Sichel Sauternes 2020

You can tell from the bright gold colour alone that this is going to be a cracker. The nose backs this theory up, with lashings of dried apricot, fresh cut peach, pear, barley sugar and bush honey. The palate is impeccable, with lusciously sweet pear, peach, nectarine, hints of orange blossom and a roundness of gentle oak. The acidity is firmly in control and keeps the palate tight and rounded. The finish lingers and keeps you wanting more.

This is a de-classified Sauternes, which means it made by a top producer, but sold without mentioning the name of the producer. In this case the producer is of the highest pedigree, firmly making it a stellar buy.

Good with parfait, blue cheeses and delicate fruit desserts.
